A crazy story about a fling that turned into an FBI investigation was submitted to TikToker Lizzy (@lizzzylyonfit) after she shared her own experience with a pathological liar. All names in this recently submitted story have been changed to protect the identities of those involved.

In 2020, this woman was in the midst of legal proceedings, trying to get a restraining order against her ex. He was physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive. At the time, he was calling her around 400 to 500 times a day.

"That was how he would kind of torment me, from a no-caller-ID phone number, which made it really hard to track his number," narrated Lizzy.

"My phone was essentially unusable during this period of time because of how consistent the calls were coming in."

The court proceedings kept getting pushed back due to the global pandemic. Finally, in June 2020, she secured a virtual meeting and was granted a lifetime restraining order in all 50 states against her ex.

Her ex was also a very large and formidable man, as he was over six feet tall. He was the frat boy type and was generally quite charming.

Once she escaped from that relationship, she naively thought she would be able to spot dangerous men more easily. In August, she was at the beach with her friends when she met a guy named Patrick. She wasn't looking to get into another relationship, but they ended up really hitting it off.

Patrick was the exact opposite of her ex. He was of average height and was shy and dorky. She felt safe with Patrick. They had a great time at the beach, but never exchanged phone numbers.

A few weeks later, they bumped into each other at a bar and reconnected. This time, he asked her out on a date. She agreed to go out with him, and they started casually dating.

Patrick worked in sales and lived in a really nice house. He was smart, good at his job, and came from a nice family. He was everything that she would want in a partner.

After about a month of dating, they began having sleepovers. During this time, she started receiving calls from her ex again. The first couple of times this happened, she was in complete distress. She would call Patrick and let him know what was going on, so he was aware of her ex and what he put her through.

Patrick treated her well during this time. He took care of her by ordering food, running a bath for her, and surprising her with flowers.

After a few days, she mustered up the courage to call her ex back and tell him that she was contacting the police. Her ex swore that he wasn't the one calling her.

"It actually almost sounded like he had no idea what I was talking about, and I didn't believe him because he was a liar and a narcissist," said Lizzy.

"But this time just felt different in my bones. He actually told me he would get his phone records and show and prove to me that he was not the one calling."

She was stressed about the whole situation and wasn't sleeping well, so Patrick offered her some sleep medication. The medication helped tremendously.

One night, she woke up at 3 a.m. to use the restroom. She saw Patrick on his computer and asked him what he was doing. He claimed that he couldn't sleep, so he got up to work.

This started happening more frequently. After about two and a half months, she noticed some red flags about Patrick. He would often talk about his crazy ex and brag about the things he did following their breakup.

For one, he shipped animal feces to his ex's workplace to embarrass her.

That really didn't sit right with her, so one day, she announced out of the blue that they just weren't compatible and it would be best if they remained friends. Patrick begged for a second chance, but she stood her ground. Eventually, he accepted it, and they agreed just to be friends.

After the breakup, her phone began acting up. She started to get a lot of ghost phone calls from people in her contacts list. When she called them back, they said they hadn't called her at all.

She also received a ton of calls from rehabilitation centers. She worried that a scammer had hacked her phone, so she called the phone company.

The company did an investigation, but they weren't able to find anything wrong. She decided to change her number and get a new phone just in case. The company assured her that the change would resolve the issues she had been experiencing.

But a few days later, she was back to receiving random calls. The only person who could be responsible was her ex, but she didn't believe he was smart enough to hack into her phone.

The night of October 30, she received a text message from a strange number. When she opened it, she found a picture of her sleeping.

She freaked out and checked her entire apartment. She didn't find anything, so she went back to bed. Somehow, she fell asleep. She woke up at around 8 a.m. to messages from a guy she recently went on a date with.

Apparently, he had received a link to an account with steamy content from her. She was confused because she didn't have any account like that, but when she tried looking it up, a profile popped up with her pictures on it.

She reached out to a friend with a lot of technology knowledge. She started wondering if Patrick could be behind this. She decided to try talking to Patrick's ex about the situation.

The ex told her that strange things began happening with her phone after she and Patrick broke up. It was the same thing this woman was currently experiencing.

After speaking to the ex, she confronted Patrick, but he denied everything. The activity on her phone started ramping up. Loans were being taken out in her name, her banking information was hacked, money was being stolen from her account, and her credit was being run.

Every day, there was something new, whether it was her finances being compromised or spicy photos of her posted to the internet.

She met with a lawyer who helped her explain her case to a team of FBI agents. Over the next year and a half, the FBI agents gathered evidence for the case. They figured out that Patrick must have accessed her phone while she was knocked out from the sleeping medication.

A couple of agents confiscated Patrick's electronics and arrested him. They went to federal court two years later. She was able to read her victim impact statement.

Patrick was prosecuted and sentenced to federal prison. She never learned why he did what he did, but at least justice was served.
