Right before TikToker Prachi (@justprachi) started medical school, she was hit by a car. At the time, she was walking her dog. She looked both ways before crossing the street, of course.

A car had stopped in front of the crosswalk to let her walk by. For some reason, the driver slammed on the accelerator as soon as she walked in front of the car.

The next thing she knew, she was lying on the road and was unable to move. It turned out that she had flown 25 feet when the car struck her.

Her dog had also flown with her. The entire road had been cut off and was being treated like a crime scene. She later found out that the driver attempted to lie to the police about what had happened.

"I got the police records later, but the driver was trying to lie about what happened and claim that I ran out into the middle of the street out of nowhere and that I wasn't on the crosswalk or anything," said Prachi.

Luckily, there were witnesses who could support Prachi's account. A guy working on someone's roof saw what really happened. Prachi was lying in the road for about 40 minutes before an ambulance finally arrived. It took a while to get there because the incident occurred during peak rush hour.

Her dog didn't break any bones, but Prachi did. She broke several bones from her pelvis to her spine. Part of her ear also came off. At the hospital, the doctors and nurses kept telling her how lucky she was not to have any permanent damage.

She spent four days in the hospital without her phone. Her phone had fallen out of her pocket when the car hit her, so the police had to keep it as part of the investigation.

Since she was in the trauma unit, her family wasn't allowed to visit her very often. She couldn't even see the clock because she couldn't turn her body due to the multiple fractures.

Overall, she spent a total of three weeks in the hospital and had to get a surgery for her pelvis and spine. In the end, she received a settlement from her car insurance company, and the driver got a few points taken off her license for distracted driving.

Many TikTok users described similar experiences involving being hit by a car.

"I was hit at In-N-Out Burger on the sidewalk at 30 miles per hour. I was thrown 15 feet and woke up 15 minutes later. Three contractors did chest compressions to jump-start my heart and get me breathing again. I got stitches on my forehead but didn't break anything. I was released in three hours from the hospital. It took me eight days to walk again," commented one user.

"I was hit by a car on a walk. I was in trauma, too, and it was the scariest thing when I was screaming in the trauma room by myself. My family lives in a different state. I have a facial hematoma, a mild brain bleed, and a broken nose," wrote another.

"I've been hit, too, and it also felt very intentional. Like, I was so obviously in front of the car. I also flew about 25 feet. I was hit at around 40 mph. Worst feeling ever. Doctors and nurses were surprised I was alive and doing fine. The person drove off and was never caught," added a third.
