For anyone with arachnophobia, there is nothing more terrifying than discovering a giant spider in your space. Now, imagine finding one in your classroom.
That was what one teacher, Mrs. Larkin (@learningwithmrs.larkin), recently experienced, and things took a horrifying turn when she attempted to get rid of the unwanted visitor.
"I want to tell you what happened to me in my classroom, and I am not exaggerating when I say that this is straight out of my nightmares," said Mrs. Larkin.
At the time, her students had separated into small groups to work on an activity. When time was up, everyone came back together.
During this transitional period, one of her students came up to her and pointed out a large spider next to the teacher's desk.
"Spiders are my biggest fear ever," said Mrs. Larkin. "When I tell you that I would rather go skydiving without a parachute than deal with spiders, I'm not lying."
At first, she assumed that it was just a granddaddy long-legs, which she is okay with, as long as it doesn't start moving and crawling around.
She had to hype herself up to kill the spider. First, she located the spider. The problem was that she could see it from across the room. This spider was huge and definitely not a granddaddy long-legs.
She grabbed a weapon, steeled herself, and struck the spider. Suddenly, hundreds of baby spiders exploded from the big spider's back and scattered. Mrs. Larkin was overwhelmed, crying and trying her best not to throw up as she processed what had just happened.

"While mama is dead, I now have hundreds of new baby spiders all in my room somewhere," said Mrs. Larkin. "I'm not okay. So, if you see me in the news: teacher has a heart attack in classroom from spider, it's me. I can guarantee you."
In the comments section, several TikTok users shared similar spider stories, showing that Mrs. Larkin isn't alone in her fear.
"I also have an irrational fear of spiders. One day, I came home and found at least 50 wolf spiders in my foyer. I ran out of the house screeching, but that didn't solve the problem!!! My neighbor rescued me, but the exterminator I called said I had an infestation!!! He took care of it, but when I say I had PTSD for years, I'm not exaggerating," commented one user.
"I had that happen to me a few years ago, but I thought it was lint on the floor and tried to pick it up, and when all those baby spiders went everywhere, I almost passed out, but somehow, I just started stepping on as many as I could get to of those baby spiders, so I understand how you feel," wrote another.
"We had a wolf spider in our house in Arizona once, and my husband had the same outcome with hundreds of baby spiders scurrying across our floor. It was terrifying! And it happened to you in front of a whole bunch of children, no less," shared a third.
@learningwithmrs.larkin I repeat…I. AM NOT. OKAY. #teach #teachersoftiktok #teacherlife #teachertiktok #teacher
