If your partner wanted to marry you but they lived with a pretty horrible family, would you make them get a second house so you wouldn't have to be forced to live with his loved ones?
This woman's boyfriend is a rich lawyer who is a lot older than she is, and lately, they have been discussing getting married. Right now, her boyfriend lives with his daughter, who is an adult.
Her boyfriend's daughter is entitled, sloppy, and nasty. When she met her at first, she still tried to be super sweet to her and figured she was just blunt.
But as she watched her boyfriend's daughter melt down like a child and keep up her cruelty, she quickly realized this girl is just a nightmare.
On top of this, her boyfriend's 95-year-old mom lives with him and his daughter. Her boyfriend said that when they do get married, he will hire someone full-time to live at home to care for his mom.
She's been dating her boyfriend for nearly a year, and she hates the idea of moving into his house and living with his daughter and his mom.
"He also owns multiple properties, and I was thinking, why don't I ask him to move to one of his other properties as our 'marital' house, just because I need the privacy and I want to feel safe in my own space," she explained.
"And honestly, I sleep over at his house every weekend since we're both busy on the weekdays, and I don't really feel safe in his home. He can always take care of his mom, take his mom out literally whenever he wants, and he can always check in on his mom over the phone, messages, and even visiting in person."
"He can also keep his current bedroom so we can sleep between the houses, with a primary marital home as our new home. Would that be asking for too much? What do you guys think? I feel like I would feel much safer moving into another home with him while giving him the full flexibility to take care of his mom while I keep my own private space."

Her boyfriend has never lived apart from his mom, not even during his first marriage. She can admit that it might be a huge step for her boyfriend to finally move out then.
I don't think it's unreasonable for her to want her own house so she can have some space to herself. Her boyfriend's mom and daughter sound exhausting to live with, and it shouldn't be that hard for him to keep up two households if he makes a lot of money.
What advice do you have for her?
