If you met someone and knew they were married, would you still be interested in pursuing them? And would you lie about knowing their marital status?
Six years ago, this 31-year-old woman started dating her 38-year-old husband, and they met back when she took a freelance position with his company.
The moment she laid eyes on him, he was speaking to his coworkers about his wife. She thought he was very good-looking, but didn't try to pursue him just yet.
"A month later, we worked together on a project along with a third person, and we got really close. That third person ended up hitting on me, and when I was alone with my now-husband, he confessed he felt jealous. That's how it all started," she explained.
"I knew he was married, but I never brought it up, and neither did he. Until one day, his wife called me while he was sitting right next to me. I had no idea what to do."
"I don't know if I actually panicked or just faked it, but I remember crying, cursing at him, and telling him I felt disgusted with myself. He felt terrible. He confessed that I wasn't the first person he had cheated with and said he was deeply sorry for causing me so much pain."
Overall, that phone call didn't negatively impact her. The next time her husband reached out, she pretended to be devastated by his infidelity.
She lied to him about knowing about his wife in the first place. She even played up her depression and said she couldn't bring herself to eat.
Ultimately, her husband left his wife for her and began therapy. He stated that he was extremely traumatized for causing her so much suffering.

"I accepted his support, but I kept playing games: pushing him away, ghosting him, coming back, and so on. More than anything, I just didn't want to admit I knew I was the other woman all along. My goal wasn't to mess with his head; I just wanted to cover my lie," she continued.
"I vanished for a while to pull myself out of the situation, but we eventually ran into each other randomly. We talked briefly, and I told him I was recovering. He asked to meet up later, and slowly, we reconnected. We even went to couples therapy together."
"Now, 6 years later, he still has no clue I knew everything from day one. I feel guilty, but deep down, I know it was probably necessary for us to end up where we are today. If I had admitted I knew he was married, it likely would have been purely casual...just like his previous affairs (according to him, there were 4 others during his 8-year marriage)."
And that's the secret she's been sitting on.
Yikes, how's that for a love story?
What do you think about that?
