If you found out that your spouse secretly sent emails to their ex for two entire decades, including love poems, what would you do?
This woman got married to her husband 33 years ago, and they have been with one another for four decades in total. Not too long ago, her husband suffered a terrible fall that landed him in the hospital with a head injury.
While her husband's been hospitalized, she unfortunately found out that he's been emailing his ex-girlfriend for the last 20 years. Yes, you read that right.
Initially, the emails were simply friendly in nature.
"But later (after 10 years of correspondence), my husband sent 2 love poems to her and asked her to meet him (she lives in another state), as he was going to be in that area, he said," she explained.
Her husband's ex stated that her own husband wasn't fond of that and declined to see him. They still kept on sending emails back and forth to one another for 18 years before she quit responding to him.
Her husband sent his ex one email a year for the following three years, leading up to last year. In them, her husband revealed that he missed his ex, wanted to know how she was doing, and mentioned that if she no longer wanted to hear from him, he would no longer write to her.
Additionally, he said he always "admired her," so he would keep up with the emails if he didn't receive a response from her.
"When confronted, he blamed me for going through his emails without his knowledge! I had to go into his laptop to read the daily hospital reports on his charts, as he was being monitored for everything (he is also diabetic and on insulin)," she continued.

"We are both in our late 70s. He is coming out of the hospital in 2 days, and I have to be his caregiver. I am very angry, sad, and burned out physically and emotionally. Any suggestions?"
Yeah, send this man to a nursing home and let them deal with his recovery! It sounds like her husband considers his ex to be the one who got away for him, and he never fell out of love with her.
That's certainly hurtful, and she has every right to feel betrayed and furious. She should divorce him so she can live out her golden years without having to deal with his nonsense.
What do you think she should do?
