Pet owners will do just about anything to keep their furry family members happy and healthy, but sometimes, even an unassuming everyday item can become a source of concern.

TikToker Kierst (@kierst.r) recently shared a frightening experience involving one of her dogs. She is now warning other pet parents to take a closer look at their pets' dishes.

She has two dogs named Doja and Zilla. A couple of weeks ago, Zilla came down with a mysterious illness. Kierst took her to the veterinarian over the weekend.

They initially thought that Zilla had eaten something she wasn't supposed to and it would pass through her system in a couple of days.

But by the end of the weekend, she still wasn't getting any better. She was lethargic and wasn't eating or drinking water. At that point, she had a fever. The only possible explanation that the vet could come up with was pancreatitis.

Kierst searched her house and backyard for anything that could have made her dog sick. While she was conducting her investigation, her attention turned toward the dogs' water bowls.

The water bowls were from TJ Maxx. They were a copper color, so Kierst had thought they were metal bowls.

But when she took a closer look, she noticed a coating on one of the bowls. She did an internet search on what the coating was and found that no matter the type of coating, a dog could get pancreatitis if ingested.

Doja didn't get sick because she likes to drink out of the toilet bowl instead. Now, Kierst is calling for TJ Maxx to remove these toxic bowls from stores.

"I do feel a little ignorant for not noticing that something was wrong with these bowls before I bought them, but like I said, it looks just like a metal bowl to me," said Kierst.

"So, PSA to all the dog people out there. If you love your babies like me, don't make the same mistake as me."

In the comments section, many TikTok users shared their own alarming experiences with the same bowls. These stories highlight why pet owners have to be careful when purchasing products for their animals.

"My dog recently died of severe pancreatitis that came out of nowhere. I have these bowls," commented one user.

"I have those exact same bowls, and my dog has been sick since Tuesday. I took him to the vet on Wednesday and got treated for vomiting and diarrhea. Still monitoring him," wrote another.

"My dachshund just turned a year old in May and got pancreatitis right after I got him TJ Maxx bowls with a stand. Our total was $6,300. I'm so angry right now," shared a third.
