If a child did something to anger you on your wedding day, intentional or not, would you expect them to properly apologize to you?
This woman and her husband got married not too long ago, and she's still holding onto a bad memory that has ruined an otherwise perfect day.
She's honestly beginning to wonder if she's being too dramatic for being so upset, and this has to do with her husband's 12-year-old niece, who mentioned being included in their wedding back when they began dating.
As they planned the wedding, her husband's niece said she felt too old to have a role as a flower girl, so they thought she could throw confetti instead.
"Her job was to hand out confetti to our guests so everyone could toss it during our grand entrance at the reception. We thought it would be a cute way to include her since being part of our wedding was something she’d always wanted," she explained.
"Well, when it came time for our entrance, she decided to repeatedly chuck handfuls of confetti directly at my husband and me. And I don’t mean tossing it up in the air like everyone else. I mean actually throwing it straight at our faces."
"She threw so much that I ended up getting confetti down my throat and literally threw up at the end of our grand entrance. So instead of enjoying a moment I’d been looking forward to for years, I was gagging and throwing up. Not exactly the wedding memory I had in mind."
Her own niece, who is two, tossed the confetti gently, which really had her irritated that her husband's niece couldn't follow suit. When the confetti throwing was over, she and her husband pulled his niece aside and said what she did wasn't cool.
They additionally spoke to his niece's parents about the issue, but they shrugged and said she was just a child, and that was it. She gets that his niece is a kid, and kids sometimes get so excited they don't think about what they're doing.

However, her husband's niece is 12, and she knows that's old enough to know better than to throw anything in another person's face.
"I think what bothers me more than the actual incident is how completely dismissed it was. Nobody apologized or even really acknowledged that she’d taken things too far," she added.
She doesn't expect her husband's niece to be severely punished, and she's not trying to hold a grudge here. She just wants an apology, because his niece's actions negatively impacted her.
Her husband was just as upset as she was, as he can only see out of one eye, and his niece threw confetti in his face as well. She wasn't the only target.
"And to clarify, this wasn’t someone gently tossing tissue paper. She was grabbing entire handfuls and throwing them at our faces with force, like throwing a baseball, repeatedly and at close range," she continued.
"Neither of us wants issues with his family. I was raised in a strict household, and at 12, I would’ve known better. Do I realize this sounds silly? Absolutely. That’s why I wanted outside opinions to make sure I wasn’t overreacting. I just didn’t think expecting an apology or even accountability was too much."
Considering how her husband's niece's parents are failing to properly parent her, I don't think she's ever going to get the apology that she wants.
If her parents didn't even say sorry, the kid absolutely won't take it upon herself to do that. The parents are jerks, and they're just raising another one.
Do you feel she's asking for too much in wanting her husband's niece to say sorry?
